Army’s 18 RR laid a cordon around the Madkulla Behak forests of Dardpora village in Lolab after receiving specific information over the presence of militants in the woods. When the joint team started coming operations, the militants hiding in the dense forests opened heavy fire upon them.
“Army returned the fire triggering off a fierce gun-battle. In the encounter that continued till late evening, seven militants were killed,” sources said, adding “Additional reinforcements of 28 RR and SOG Takipora were sent to the forests after the encounter raged,”
