Authorities to impose restrictions in Srinagar

Will go ahead with our programme: Mirwaiz  

Srinagar: The district administration has decided to impose restrictions in areas falling under the jurisdiction of seven police stations in Srinagar in wake of the Huriyat Conference (M) programme on 24th death anniversaries of Mirwaiz Moulana Farooq and Abdul Ghani Lone.

A senior spokesman in the district administration told KNS that restrictions would be imposed in area falling under the jurisdiction of police stations including Khanyar, Nawhatta, Zadibal, Kralkhud, Rainawari, Safakadal and Mahraj Gunj.

The restrictions would be imposed on public assembly under section 144 CrPC.  Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has been placed under house confinement, told KNS that the Hurriyat (M) will go ahead with its scheduled programme on May 21. “We will go ahead with our programme and the restrictions cannot break our resolve,” Mirwaiz told KNS.
