Breast, Stomach Cancer on rise in valley

Srinagar: The Mariam Wellness Centre Hyderpora, centre in collaboration with Cancer Society Of Kashmir and Regional Cancer Centre SKIMS have held one day awareness cum screening camp for Breast cancer at Batpora, Inderhama at Shehjar complex.
According to a statement issued to KNS, females aged between 35 to 55 underwent screening,3 showed possible signs of breast cancer malignancy, while 20 patients showed possible signs of gastro intestinal tract malignancy.
Females from Batpora, Burzhama, Gouse, Chattarhama and adjoining remote villages benefitted from screening by three doctors and cancer specialist nurse which was completed under guidance of Dr. Shaqul Qamar, assistant professor at SKIMS.
In total 101 patients came, out of which 85 were evaluated for possible signs of malignancy, while 15 male patients were treated for general medical conditions by Dr.Arif Maghribi,20 students of a local school were given counseling sessions by Mental Health Therapist Tazeen Matto.
