Budgam Police solves blind murder case of a girl

Srinagar: Budgam police successfully cracked the blind murder of a girl Gulshana who was found dead in Reshinad Kremshore, Khan Sahib on 3rd June.

In a statement issued to KNS, the district police authorities said, a girl Gulshana daughter of Ghulam Hassan Sofi resident of Kremshore Khansahib left her home in the evening hours of 1st June, however, didn’t returned back. Her family searched for her; however their search ended on 3rd of June when a sister of the missing girl spotted her body at Reshinad Kremshore, Khansahib.

Police was informed and a police party of Sub Division Khan Sahib rushed to the spot and took the custody of the body. The body bore strangulation marks around her neck. Subsequently, autopsy of the body was conducted at Sub District Hospital, Khansahib.

A case FIR Number 45/2014 under section 302 RPC was registered in Police Station Khan Sahib and investigation was started.

During the investigation, it transpired that the deceased was 6 months back engaged by her parents to a boy of Gogo, Budgam. However, prior to this arranged engagement the deceased had an affair with a boy of the same vicinity Javid Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Gani Bhat resident of Kremshore who is a painter by profession.

On the fateful day, the deceased had received a phone call from Javid Ahmad Bhat in the evening hours of 1st of June 2014 for meeting him at Reshinad. During questioning by police, Javid Ahmad Bhat confessed that upon refusal of the girl to marry him and continue with the will of her parents, he got infuriated and in order to take revenge he strangulated her to death with her scarf on the spot and left the body there.
