Camel slaughter in Pulwama attracts beeline of customers

Pulwama, Feb 12: A slaughter of camel on Friday in Pulwama attracted hundreds of customers who could be seen waiting for hours in a queue to buy the meat.

Locals from Wanpora Village in newa belt of Pulwama district said that a camel was slaughtered by local butcher Fayaz Ahmad which attracted thousands of locals to get the meat.

They said that hundreds of people of Wanpora and nearby villages after hearing about the slaughter of camel reached to the butcher shop and purchased its meat.

They further added that people even waited for hours in queues to get their hands on the meat.

Zahid Ahmad, a local resident, said that he was surprised when he saw a large number of people waiting to get meat.

“We had a guest at home, so I was in a hurry to buy the meat but due to huge rush I had to wait for over one and a half hour for my turn,” he said.

“I had no intention to bring meat today but when I heard about camel meat, I rushed to get it. Camel meat is healthy and also has a religious significance” said Manzoor Ahmad another local resident.

Camels are mainly found in deserts and are very rare in Kashmir valley—(KNO)
