HCJK furious over Mushtaq-ul-Islam’s continuous detention

Shah under house arrest

Srinagar: Expressing serious resentment over the continuous detention of senior Hurriyat Conference JK leader and chairman Muslim League, Mushtaq ul Islam, the senior leader of the amalgam Shabir Ahmad Shah has accused the government of falsely implicating its political opponents and arresting them without any justification.

According to a statement issued to KNS, “Such cowardice on part of government is detrimental for the sound functioning of democracy and will yield serious repercussions,” Shah who has been put under house arrest said.

Appealing people to completely boycott the upcoming polls, Shah said we have to revere the sacrifice of our martyrs. “Our goal is to achieve freedom from Indian forcible occupation not to gain power or any other material gains,” he said. Commenting on the rise in encounters between Mujahedeen and forces, Shah said: “Had India fulfilled all its promises it had kept with the Kashmiri nation such bloodbaths would never have taken place in the valley.”

Paying tributes to martyrs Shabir Ahmad Shah also expressed sympathy with the families of Abdul Hamid and Iftikhar Ahmad of Ahmad Nagar whose houses were severely damaged due to encounter. Meanwhile, the Hurriyat spokesperson has strongly condemned the house arrest of Shabir Ahmad Shah and said that government is totally helpless before the reasons Shah put for election boycott. That is why they find no option but to keep him (Shah) under house arrest. (KNS)
