High Court grants bail to ‘tainted’ Khan

Srinagar: Much to the relief of molestation accused Ex-Health minister, Shabir Ahmad Khan, was granted interim bail by High Court in Srinagar, up to February 24.
The Court of Justice Janak Raj Kotwal, accepted the arguments of the councilor of the accused, advocate Salatia, and issued the bail orders in Khan’s favour.
However, the court directed the accused to appear before the investigating of the case on Thursday. “If the accused is arrested he should be granted bail with a personal bail bond of Rs 25 thousands,” the court said. It also directed the accused not to leave the state.
Shabir Khan was evading arrest since a case of molestation was registered against him in Police Station Shahid Gunj, Srianagar, under FIR no 9/2014 and under sections 354 and 509.
Khan is accused of molesting a lady doctor in his office chamber in Srinagar. He resigned a day after the registration of the case.
Police had rushed a special team to Jammu to arrest Khan, but it could not succeed even raiding at a number of places in Jammu and Rajouri.
Legislative Assembly Speaker, Mubarak Gul too had recently given his consent to arrest MLA, Rajouri.
