Mirwaiz chairs Hurriyat Executive Council members meet

Troopers accused of murders are roaming free

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) heded by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday convened a meeting of Hurriyat Executive council members at the Hurriyat headquarters Rajbagh Srinagar.

In a statement issued to GNS, a Hurriyat spokesman said the members took stock of the current political situation besides discussing the party matters.

“Paying rich tributes to the martyrs of 2008, 2009, and 2010, the participants stated the accused troopers who committed the murders of youth were still roaming free and have not been indicted in the courts,” the spokesman said, adding the members demanded an impartial probe into the killings of youth during these years.

He said the participants stated that ‘it seems human rights violations are part of the duty of forces deployed in Kashmir’. “They also called the international rights organizations to take notice of rights violation in Kashmir committed by the Indian forces,” the spokesman said.
