On Tuesday, Pakistan declared an Indian High Commission staff member in Islamabad persona non grata, accusing them of engaging in activities inconsistent with diplomatic protocol. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs mandated that the official depart the country within 24 hours.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office summoned the Indian Charge d’Affaires to issue a formal démarche, solidifying Islamabad’s position. The ministry refrained from elaborating on the specific nature of the diplomat’s alleged misconduct.
This move comes shortly after India expelled a Pakistani official from the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, also ordering a 24-hour exit. The back-and-forth expulsions underscore heightened diplomatic friction between Pakistan and India.
