Picture of Bijbehara youth wielding gun goes viral

Anantnag, June 25 (PTK) : The militant recruitmentthat saw rise in Kashmir after killing of top Hizb-ul-Mujahideen Commander Burhan Wani are continuing despite killing of hundreds of militants in gunfights and shoot-outs with security forces.

In an another, a picture of a youth who is belonging to Anantnag district of South Kashmir has gone viral on social media site where he is seen holding an AK-47 rifle and wearing a camouflage vest. A pistol, some magazines and grenades are also seen place in front of the youth.

As per the details mentioned on the picture, recruited youth’s name is Rafiq Ahmad Drangay who has been code named as Abu Zarar (same code name as of slain militant commander Sabzar Bhat).

The youth is said to be a resident of Hayar village of Bijbehara in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district. The police has not yet verified the authenticity of the pictures. On the top left corner of the picture, stamp of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen district commander Anantnag can be seen.

Earlier yesterday, the parents of Rafiq were seen appealing him to return home. He had gone missing some days before.

The police and army few weeks ago said that militant recruitments are low as compared to last year as in first five months of the year only 40 youth had joined militant ranks. The police has been making attempts to bring back the youth who joined militancy to mainstream.

As per police claims, more than ten youth who earlier had joined militancy have returned to mainstream.

Just five days before, pictures of two Shopian youth went viral on social media where they were seen holding AK-47 rifles and announced that they have joined militant outfit Ansar Ghazwatul Hind. Just two days after sharing pictures, the duo were killed in encounter with security forces.(PTK)
