Rajnath’s biased approach on welfare of KPs: Jan

Demand equal status for Rajouri, Poonch Doda migrants

Poonch: Reacting over Home Minister Rajnath Singh’s policy towards Kashmiri pandits, senior National Conference leader and Member Legislative Assembly Poonch, Ajaz Ahmed Jan said that Centre has started double standard towards migrants and no policy is being formulated for border area migrants who are even not treated at par with Kashmiri pandits.

According to a statement issued to KNS, Member Legislative Assembly Poonch, Ajaz Ahmed Jan said that Home Minister Rajnath Singh has directed his officials to take Kashmiri Pandits into confidence before their return to valley and other related things for their welfare. Jan said that home coming of pundits is welcome step and they are not against the return and welfare of pundits but BJP led NDA has started communal card in the rehabilitation process. He said that only Kashmiri Pandits are not sufferer of militancy but there are thousands of people who migrated from Rajouri Poonch and Chinab region and have taken shelter in various areas of the state and there is no policy for them. He said that why Rajnath Singh is only sincere for Kashmiri Pandits and why he is ignoring militancy affected people of Rajouri Poonch and Chinab region area.

Expressing anguish over indifferent attitude of New Delhi with border migrants and migration due to militancy in Poonch Rajouri areas, Jan said that there is no difference between migrants of Kashmir and migrants of Poonch Rajouri or Doda but it is strange that government looks on the both with two different lenses. He said that there is need to have one policy for all militancy affected areas including Kashmir Pandits as giving some special status to KPs will sound wrong signal to the people who are migrants of Jammu province.

Demanding a special package for border migrants and migration due to militancy, Jan said that migrants of Rajouri Poonch and Doda should also be consulted and Rajnath Singh should also mention the welfare programme of these people otherwise BJP should clear his stand on it. NC leader also pressed upon Minister of State in PMO Dr Jatinder Singh to highlight the problem of Rajouri Poonch and Doda migrants with Prime Minister and publically come announce of treating these migrants at par with KPs.
