Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) described continued detention of their president as by police as unfortunate and condemnable as his continued detention is affecting patient care at SMHS hospital. Besides head of DAK Dr Nissar is also associate professor at medical college and there are large numbers of patients under his supervision. There is nothing wrong in stating that police can’t enter in Operation Theater and Intensive care units with shoes on in search of injured youngsters. In these high dependence areas even medical staff has to change cloths, wash hands five times, wear sanitized gowns and remove their rings and watch as infection control measure. It seems there is no freedom of speech and right to show dissent in this state. In a statement DAK spokesperson Dr Suhail Naik appealed doctors to shut routine work in all hospitals for one hour from 10:00 Am to 11:00 am, but continue work in emergencies, Critical care Units and operation theaters so that common people will not suffer. Dr Naik warned state government that if Dr Hassan is not released by tomorrow, we will be forced to shut the emergency services also and state government will be responsible for the consequences.
