Taj reviews healthcare facilities in Kulgam, asks for equipping ambulances with GPS

Srinagar: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din reviewed the status of health infrastructure and manpower in Kulgam district at a high level meeting of officers here today.

MLA, Kulgam, Mr. M. Y. Tarigami was also present in the meeting. Important issues like strengthening primary healthcare base, equipment up gradation and manpower availability came up for discussion during the meeting. The meeting decided rationalization of doctors and paramedics out of available staff depending on the need of a particular place.

Mr. Taj directed immediate installation of central heating system at the District Hospital, Kulgam for which he asked the Department to take up the matter with concerned agencies. He directed immediate equipping of ambulances with GPS facility, so that their efficient use is ensured at the time of emergency.

The meeting also decided augmenting the District Hospital and other peripheral health centers in the District so that people don’t have to rush to Srinagar with patients. The meeting was told that during the six months of this year, 71 thousand OPD patients were examined at the District hospital and five thousand indoor patients were treated during the period. Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Mr. Gazzanfar Hussain, Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem ur Rehman and other officers of Health Department were present in the meeting.
